Letter From The Editor

Dear Friends,

We’ve all known people who appear to have it all; people who have a smile on their face and an upbeat attitude no matter what is going on in the world around them. They love what they do, they have a great family, life is good, and they always have a kind word to say. How do they do it? Well, among other things they are what I call Unstoppable!!!!!!

  • They know what they want.
  • They are 100% committed to getting it.
  • They know that there is more power in a hug than a fist.
  • They love life.
  • They refuse to be stopped by any circumstance.
  • They know the value of asking for help.
  • They have teams that support them everywhere.
  • They are clear about what is most important to them.

Being unstoppable is like playing a mental game of chess. We are either in the game… recognize when we aren’t and are willing to do something about it… or we’re not! And if “not” is where you find yourself… OK. But I ask you to reconsider. You see, life is all about having fun, stepping out, being visible, and playing full out no matter what the world has to say about it! So give it a chance… I dare you!!!!

Remember: You are the only person who has a say in how your life turns out!

So... what do you say?

Warm Regards,

Clay S. Nelson

What the World Needs Now

“There is a wonderful mythical law of nature that the three things we
crave most in life—happiness, freedom, and peace of mind—are always
attained by giving them to someone else.”
— Peyton Conway March

As you look at the world around you, what do you suppose we need most? Yes, wide open credit markets would be nice, more jobs, improved home values…we could use it all. Yet, when you really think about it, those are just things. Now, that is not to trivialize the hardships in the world, but since we don’t have a magic wand that will give us all these things we need, how about we start with what we can do to make our world, our neighborhoods, and our families happier NOW!

What I’m talking about is Generosity. Generosity is something many people equate with their checkbooks, but what I’m talking about here is generosity of spirit. You know the kind of generosity where you let the person behind you in the grocery store (holding just two items) check-out before you and your cart full of groceries, or you help a senior citizen neighbor with their lawn care, or smiling at the person on the street – maybe even volunteering your time at a shelter – rather than ignoring them.

Choosing to be generous can lighten, brighten and enhance your whole day; it can bring happiness and peace of mind to those you are generous with. True generosity comes from the heart, willingly and bountifully, with no expectations for a particular personal reward in mind. Not only that, it’s FUN!

Practice having fun by being generous:

Give someone a break. Don’t bad mouth the next person who treats you with disregard or disrespect. Generosity of spirit means being open to another’s goodness and looking for that, instead of what’s wrong.

Do some good, completely anonymously. In fact, plan with others… create a sort of “generosity conspiracy” with your friends or your team. Share helpful ideas and information without being asked. Have an attitude of service to others.

If you have money, spread it around—like fertilizer on a lawn, it will help others grow. It’s not so much about giving a lot. It’s about when you give. It’s about trusting another and investing in them.

And, generosity is not just about being generous with others. It’s about being generous enough with yourself to open up and be contributed to by others…to accept what others have to give you…and have been wanting to give to you for some time now.

Being generous is just plain smart. It’s always a win-win experience. What are you waiting for?

“Give the world the best you have and you may get hurt.
Give the best anyway.”
— Mother Teresa

Do You Want a Brighter Future? It’s Time to “Replace” You

Have you ever wished that you could simply transfer all the knowledge that is stored in your mind into that of another? It sounds like something out of a Frankenstein movie! Yet, what if you could? Would you do it? The truth is that everyone has had that thought at least one time, if not MORE!

The need to teach what you know to others – to replace yourself – so you can move on to what’s next for you isn’t new. No matter where we are in our lives, if we are growing we’ve got to teach everything we know in order to make room for even greater growth. Yet, at this moment the need is more poignant than ever.

We have reached a point in time where most of us are more unsure of what lies ahead than ever before. So how do you successfully navigate this uncertainty? You teach what you know – you replace yourself everywhere you can – which will make room for you to grow and evolve with the changing times. Think of it this way: If you are the one doing all of the thinking, doing, and worrying, how are you ever going to have time to put your greater vision into action, or for that matter, even create a vision for what you want in the future??!!

Business and life as we have known it have changed radically, and anyone who believes that operating in the status quo will get them by is mistaken. If you want to not just survive, but thrive in the current times, AND be ready for when the world takes off again, you’ve got to build your team, you’ve got to teach what you know, you’ve got to willingly step out and be outrageous, you’ve got to replace you… you’ve got to be looking for what you don’t know!

Anyone who is playing big should always be looking for ways to grow their TEAM (and thereby themselves) in knowledge and talent, but a mind transfer facilitated by a factious machine is not going to do the job. As a leader, it is your responsibility to TEACH to your team what you know.

Consider this: How much easier would your day go if you took the time to teach your team what they needed to know in your behalf? A few weeks or months down the road, how much more time might you have to improve/grow your business? How much more time might you have to give yourself some well-deserved time off? How much more time and energy might you have to be with those you love?

Teaching your team… growing your team into outstanding leaders themselves is necessary for you to ride today’s massive waves of change and have the life you want to live, and it is simpler than most people think.

  • First, you have to give up that making the effort to teach others takes too much time!
  • Second, you have to give up that no one can be taught to do something as well as you can do it.
  • Third, have a plan that specifies who you are going to teach “what, why, and by-when”.
  • Fourth, enroll your team members into your plan… explain to each member their roll in the plan and why they have been selected to be a part of it.
  • Finally, follow your plan for teaching and have FUN!!!!

More time, freedom, business, or whatever you want, is just around the corner. All you have to do is be willing to teach what you know. What do you have to lose??? If you replied, “Alot”, to this question, ask yourself this… “But what do I have to gain?”
