"A vision without a task is but a dream. A task without a vision is drudgery. A vision with a task is the hope of the world."
At the start of 2020, did you make a list of goals for the year? Even if you aren't in the habit of writing resolutions, you probably had some hopes and plans in mind. At that point, few could have imagined the challenges we would face. Now, in September, I would bet that few of our original goals for 2020 have been realized — though we can also view this as an opportunity to shift our mindset, reset priorities, and sharpen our vision for the future.
Most of us live our day-to-day lives on automatic without giving much thought to a larger purpose or meaning for who we are or what we do. Even leaders with the greatest of intentions can fall into this trap. So, what’s the problem?
Leadership that lacks forward thinking can quickly lead to discouragement and financial failure. Therefore, leadership without vision is actually dangerous! Think about it this way:
Imagine you are traveling in a car with your team, and each of you have your heads buried in your GPS devices. No one, not even YOU, the driver, is looking at the road! In this scenario, it is difficult to see how you could possibly avoid an accident, right? However, when you pay attention, ignore the distractions, take in the scenery, and are present to where you are going, you will have a successful trip! It's the same with being a visionary leader.

Oh My Gosh!!! Where did the year go? We look back on all the things we did this year, and then we think about all the things we didn’t do, but wanted or planned to do… The year really ought to be twice as long!!!
We’ve made it a practice at the end of each year to write down all of our accomplishments just so we can get a sense of what we’ve actually done. It’s amazing how good we feel after looking over our list. We challenge you to do the same and have fun!!!
That being said, what’s next for you? What’s beyond your current success? What do you want? Could it be furthering your career? Taking on more family time? Retirement? What about a total change in lifestyle? Whatever your desire or circumstance, check out what may be stopping you from moving forward.

We all have the opportunity to be thankful and grateful for all the good things in our lives every day. The events that seem like an annoyance, or a setback, or an inconvenience, or even life-threatening, can be just what we need to get us back on track and be grateful. We can choose to believe that there is good in all that happens to us or we can choose to be a victim of life’s circumstances… Which do you choose?
Take time today, and every day, to be grateful for at least one thing in your life. Perhaps when you start doing that, more than one thing you are grateful for will show up for you. Just a Thought!!!
We had fun making this Podcast come to life and for that we are grateful! We were reminded to be thankful for our circumstances and also to let family and friends know that we are grateful and thankful for them.

We all have people and things in our lives that we can be appreciative of. But when was the last time you took a minute to express your appreciation spontaneously and personally to another? It's easy to get caught up in the busy-ness of our daily routines and forget to acknowledge those who contribute to our lives - our spouse, our loved ones, the kids, a co-worker or friend, the clerk at the grocery store. But don't wait til later or assume they know you're grateful even though you may not have expressed it. Instead, give your thanks while in the moment. It's a great way to help make someone else's day, and doesn't cost you anything!
The added benefit is that the more you openly express your appreciation, the more happiness that will come back to you, too! And keep in mind, the exact opposite can be true too! When we fail to show our appreciation for even the "smallest" things, we risk making others feel that their contributions and actions are being taken for granted, and eventually those around us will stop doing things for us!
Take some time to acknowledge someone today. You'll put a smile on their face, and chances are you'll have a smile on yours while doing it (and afterwards). A win-win for everyone!
We had a lot of fun recording this podcast episode. Take a listen, think about some ways you can acknowledge and show your appreciation to someone who has helped you recently, and please share some of your experiences with us at firstname.lastname@example.org!

Did you know you can burn calories just by laughing? So why be so serious all the time?
In our newest podcast, Clay and Susan Nelson discuss ways to cast away the heaviness of life, learning how to relax, releasing stress and lightening your mood. Shifting your mental gears towards a positive mindset can be as simple as changing your surroundings for just a few minutes a day, and doesn't necessarily have to cost anything either! A walk through your neighborhood, some time spent outdoors in nature, taking a break from work to exercise, playing with a pet. Or how about movie night with your spouse or family, and digging deep into your movie collection for an old favorite that you haven't watched together in a long time? Find yourself stuck in a long line at the grocery store? Instead of grumbling to yourself about the situation, how about chatting with someone next to you?
Take a listen, try some of our tips for lightening your mood, and if you've found some creative ways for building a more positive mindset, be sure to let us know at email@example.com!
