Every single person, at one time or another, has wondered why their lives are where they are; What’s the purpose of the circumstances you are faced with? Why doesn’t life always go along the way you think it should? The answer: Because you are where you are because that’s where you’re supposed to be! Now, that is NOT to say that you don’t have a say how your life turns out. But, your journey in getting to where you say you want to go will contain unexpected detours and those detours are filled with opportunities from which you can learn, grow, teach, and even enjoy. Life is a journey that is meant to be savored. Embrace it… embrace all of it!

Yesterday I couldn’t help but notice parents and their children wading through the school supply aisles of the store. Supply lists in hand and carts weighed down, the stress was palpable. So many people take the back-to-school stress on like a badge of honor, but what are you missing when you choose to be stressed? The joy of a kindergartner picking out their first lunchbox. The pride a 5th grader feels when they accomplish labeling their own supplies. The hug your teenager needs to help calm their freshman nerves. It may sound cliche, but… your children are only children once. Choose to slow down, give up being stressed, and be present to the moments you share. You won’t regret it.

Do you ever find yourself worrying about getting somewhere that you’re not? Do you worry about landing a new job… reaching a sales goal… finding that perfect someone? Those are all valid examples of wants and desires, but worrying about not having those things does nothing to help you get there! What does help? A plan of specific actions you are committed to taking and dates by-when you will take action. Then, ask for help and accountability for doing what you say you are going to do! Worrying only creates mental exhaustion and confusion. Action with an accountability team beside you is what gets results!

When you are a leader, your leadership doesn’t take vacations or down time. No matter where you are, people look to you as an example; they take mental note of who you are being in all situations. So, what kind of leader do you want to be seen as? Are you a leader doing great things, but being a jerk as you do them, or are you a leader who’s doing great things and growing outrageous leaders by being a warm and gracious leader yourself?

Ultimately, you choose how the world sees you, and I can make you one guarantee. As a leader, you will make a much bigger difference with a smile on your face and laughter in your heart then you ever will with an iron fist.

Choose Success

I know four teenaged girls who organize an annual charity event, and in order for that event to remain successful, these girls have to start delegating and teaching other children how to do what they do, and guess what? They have all of the same objections that I’ve heard business leaders use for over three decades! Yet, if these young girls don’t take on delegation and teaching, their event will simply fade away as they move on in their lives, and the same could be said of you and your business. If you choose not to delegate and teach what you know, your business will only survive as long as you do. It’s a sobering thought, but you can choose otherwise. Choose to teach… choose to delegate… choose success.

Just a thought.
