2016 is well on its way! Are you already feeling behind and wondering what happened to all the free time you thought you'd have around the holidays to accomplish certain tasks? If this is where you are, you are not alone. Time has a way of ticking away, and before we know it, life has once again gotten in the way of our getting what we want. Or shall I say, we have allowed life to once again get in the way. Now don't start beating yourself up. It is not too late to have an outrageous 2016! Take control of your life NOW with these simple suggestions:
Take care of yourself first: Truth time. How many of you made a New Year's resolution to get back to the gym, yet you have yet to even step a toe near one? Without really committing to your well being and being in action, how do you expect to ever feel anything but "behind"?
If you are a regular follower of this blog, you have heard it said time and time again, "If you want to get to where you say you are going, you must have a written plan," and nowhere is that more true than in your business. Now, given that we are edging closer and closer to the 4th quarter of this year, one has to ask the questions: Have you given any thought at all to planning for next year? Are you following the plan you have for this year or do you even have one? Are you feeling stuck or unsure about the direction you are headed?
If you feel the “Uh-ohs” creeping in, in response to those questions, don’t panic! While many people make mistakes when it comes to their business plans, they are easy to fix and can even be avoided altogether!

It’s time to get ready! What do you want? What is missing in your life... fun, a connection with your family, or financial freedom and well-being? What are you committed to? Where do you want to be in your life by this time next year? Maybe most importantly, do you have an outrageous, full and complete plan for living a balanced life? Let’s take a look at why a written plan is the key to having it all, and I mean it ALL.
When you write your plan, you will see what you do not know about the plan you are writing. Write down the plan for what you want in all domains of your life—vibrant health, business success, effective marketing, a fun and fulfilling personal, spiritual, and family life, and financial well-being. The process will provide you with the opportunity to discover what you don't know, the answers, and create the best plan of action based upon those answers, before the plan is set in motion.

You’ve decided to follow your life-long dream and begin a new business venture, one where you are your own boss. It is exciting stuff and if you aren’t careful, your excitement could derail your success. Don’t get me wrong. Excitement, passion, and commitment are musts if you are going to succeed in any business climate. Yet, all of these must be balanced with a cool head, planning, and concise focus. So, where do you start?
#1. Draft a written document (call it a business plan, idea factory, personal plan, or whatever suits you) and state everything from who you are and what it is you produce or provide as a service, what your brand and packaging will be and how it is produced, to who will be a part of the team that makes it all happen.
Do you have a great memory and don’t think you need to write it all down? Think again!
Without a written business plan for where you are headed:
- You don’t have anything to keep you on course and your team certainly won’t know where they are going either!
- You have nothing to keep you focused on what YOU want, and you risk allowing the everyday trials and tribulations that starting a business brings to cloud your vision.
- You will spend money that is unnecessary, either fixing problems that could have been avoided, or on efforts or supplies you don’t really need.
- You will get completely worn out remembering what it is you want and what needs to be done to get it!

The holidays are upon you, and on top of the that, you are also racing toward the end of your year… racing to accomplish all that you want to both professionally and personally… racing to create your plans for next year. Given everything on your plate, how do you still get what YOU want? How do you keep mental stress and negativity from getting you down? How do you powerfully complete this year and launch your new year with renewed purpose?
